I downloaded the divx 5 codec and player from the link in tools.
The video will not play with Media Player but will play in the divx player but only a few second of the clip will play.
How can I get a video requiering the divx 5 codec to play with media player?
    Thanks for any help

By 'media player' do you mean that garbage that comes with Windows (with pretty skins?).....DivX player is even worse....shiteware

Why not use a 'real' media player?

    Try

    BSplayer
    Core Media Player
    Media Player Classic
    Zoomplayer

all the above will require you also installing FFDShow (and possibly AC3Filter)

    OR

    VLC..aka..Videolan (self contained).

I may be second guessing you here, but if you still can't get it to play more than a few seconds with any of those players, VLC especially (Which will play about anything), you may have some bad frames. A lot of DL'd DIVX vids off the web are that way.

I usually put them into VirtualdubMod and it will tell you if you have bad frames or a timestamp problem. Then if I just want to view it, I do a direct stream copy. Makes a quick copy and leaves the bad frames, but the file will play though. Or you can edit out the frames and save, but that takes a little longer.
