Depends on your computer, the source, the output.... etc. It could even take 24 hours with a slower machine. Fill out your computer specs.

There is no normal steps. It's dependant on the project and what you expect out of it. There is plenty of articles in the How To section for specific tasks.

    ALL depends on;

What you are trying to do
    What source material you have
    What your system is.

IF you are trying to simply backup a DVD, then i would be surprised if it was taking you that long unless you have a naff computer or are doing something completely wrong. (the longest i have ever taken to simply backup a DVD was 65-70 minutes, and that was with a disk that had LOADS of extras)

Fill in details of your PC in your profile.

Provide more details as to what exactly you are trying to do (ie give specifics) our crystal balls arnet working at the moment.

We were all new once, and most people here want to help, but please help us to help you.

  4. I am trying to burn a DVD movie.
    It is abt 7GB
My DVD media is 4.7 Gb

I am first downloading everything on Hard Drive which is 160 GB
    My comp RAM is 512.
    System is P III 500MHz
    DVD Drive is 16X

    Decryption takes couple of minutes.
    Burning takes couple of minutes

But shrinking takes more than one Hour to first check and then takes 4 hours to actually shrink..

Do i need to change some pref. on DVD Shrink??

    Thanks in Advance

Since your shrinking the original material it has to be changed to meet the new specs. With a system such as yours that time frame is entirley plausible. Actually sounds quite good to me.

that is a REALLY good time for a system like that

i've run backup w/ deep analysis on my athlon xp 1900 w/ 512mb ram and it took a good hour and a half to finish.
My AVI -> Any Format Guide is available here.
My Frame Resize Calculator (enhanced for Virtualdub) is available here

    That is your problem

    Deep analysis takes longer.

If you want to speed up the process, turn deep analysis off.

  12. Sure you can, it comes with it off. Select backup from the menu. Did you read the manual?

That is your other reason. Encoding times are dependent on your processor speed. That is just about right for a 500Mhz processor.

If you want to go faster, you will need to upgrade.
