Hello people.
I'm kinda new to this avi/divx/vcd things, but hey atleast i'm trying.
I'm just wondering if it's normal that a conversion from divx to mpeg could take up 48hours?.
I dont have all the movie specs because i'm at work now, but the divx is about 720mb (ShrekHQ). I'm using TMP*** something. My computer is a Pentium3 733mzh 64ram.
So if anyone has an answer please help me....
Keep em coming ol' Swedish Style

Yes, it can easily take that long. At least TMPGEnc it can switch off the PC when it's done.

i can now do avi to vcd in under 6 hours it took a while to get it right though hers what i use and how i do it
VirtualDub-1_4_7
TMPGEnc-2.01.30.116
Myflix_3.0
pinoy2201 vcd templates or TIbrOVideoCD templates for TMPGEnc
and ez cd 5 to burn them
1,open virtualdub go to file and load your avi
2,go back to file and pick save wav that will save the sound to your hard drive
3,open tmpg and go to load then browse to the pinoy2201 or TIbrOVideoCD vcd templates folder and load your chosen template be it pal or ntsc depends on your country
4,load your avi in the video part load the wav in the sound part and press start
5,3-4 hours laster depending on your cpu you will have a region compliant mpeg now time to chop it in half here is how to do it with myflix http://www.vcdhelp.com/webflix.htm do not load mutiple files in to the edit list or you will end up just joining files together and when you save it do not save it as a mpeg save as .vcd by picking that in the drop down menu then once saved find the file and change it back to .mpg
6,useing ez cds video cd creator load up 1 part and look at the video information part it will have either a place to tick pal or ntsc tick your option then ok let when it warns you the file has changed just press ok thats only where its changed it to vcd file system
im not very good at explaining myself but i tryed none the less lol -
A couple of suggestions that may help. Put more RAM in your computer. TMPGenc will use it. I have 256. And second TMPGenc allows you to set the task priority (it's within one of the menu settings). Try increasing the priority. This will swallow your machine, but it may also speed up the conversion progress.
As for myself, I have a 1200 Athlon and conversion takes approximately 2x the movie length. Thus, converting a 2 hour movie takes me about 4 hours. TMPGenc will consume about 99% of the CPU during the conversion. Which is OK, just set it at night and leave it run while you sleep.
