I have been out-of-the-loop with creating DivX files. What I mean is that I have not done it in some time.

Just recently I backed up a DVD using DivX and I want to use the original 2.0 AC-3 audio as it is only 192kbps and in the past when I used MP3 audio I always used 192kbps so I see no reason to convert the AC-3 to MP3 since I will not save any space.

Plus in the future I may want to mux a 5.1 AC-3 audio file.

Now I know in the past that it was said that Nandub was only good for MP3 muxing and that the AVIMux GUI was the best tool for muxing AC-3 with a DivX AVI file.

However I find that when I use AVIMux GUI that the resulting AVI only plays for first 20 seconds or so then just stops. This only happens when using the official DivX player. This does not happen when I use Windows Media Player or the BSPlayer.

So I am guessing I need some pointers on how to properly "set-up" the AVIMux GUI as I am guessing the problem is that something is not set-up just right thus causing the problem. I don't know as this is a guess. Maybe I have to do something "special" in the "set-up" of the official DivX Player? Ultimately I want to make sure the the end result is playable on a DivX capable DVD player such as the Philips DVP-642 althouogh I have yet to get one of these (I see one in my future though).

Anyways ... I did, as a test, try muxing the AC-3 with the DivX AVI using Nandub and it seems to work A-OK with the official DivX player but I want to make sure I am using the best tool ... which as I said I understand to be the AVIMux GUI.

    P.S.
I believe I have the newest version of the AVIMux GUI as I just downloaded it about a month ago. I have version 1.16.11

As for Nandub I have version 1.0rc2 (build 1852/release) which I got with Gordian Knot (again newest version that I am aware of).

I found 1.15 to be better than 1.16 of Avimux.

    Also run your ac3 through ac3fix , http://www.free-codecs.com/ac3fix_download.htm

So are you saying that the AVIMux GUI version 1.16.11 is "buggy"?

As for the AC-3 audio file it is A-OK as this came from a DVD rip and extracted from the VOB files using DVD2AVI ... this is not a downloaded AVI file here but one that I created myself. So I don't think AC3Fix applies here.
