Hi all, Im new to the forum, but ahve been using the site for a while to get info on players, burners etc. Just got my Philips DVP630 from argos for £50 and its connected up to my Philips 24inch Widescreen TV. I am very happy with the player, except one thing.

My dvd player is set to 16:9, but when i put in a 4:3 DVD it stretches it out making it look 'fat' on the TV,as the tv is displaying it in 16:9 mode. I can use TV remote to force it into 4:3 mode, but i used to have a Bush DVD2004 player connected by scart and that auto ratio changed by itself.

The Bush DVD2004 was set on 16:9, but the TV would always show it in 4:3, unless a 16:9 dvd was put in then it auto ratio change to 16:9. Is there anyway to get the DVP630 to do this? I have connected the DVP630 to the TV by scart socket and it does not auto ratio change, but if i put the DVP630 into the front AV inputs on my TV (White/Red audio, Yellow video) then it does auto ratio change.

Does anyone know if the DVP630 can be configured to auto ratio change thru scart? I've tried to set DVP630 on 4:3 and 4:3LB, but it just keeps the TV ratio at 4:3, or zooms in.

Also can the DVP630 be hacked to make it macro-free? I heard a rumour it can be, but i didnt think it was possible.

Hope that someone can help me, Cheers.
