  1. Okay, I've read digitalfaq.com and many many posts here (via search) but I am still in need of help..

I have a NEC 3500A(G) (used to be a LiteOn 851S but recently replaced it thinking the drive was the problem) and I got 200 Ritek DVD+R from GenesysDTP.com some months ago, the inital 50 went fine but when I cracked into the 2nd pack of 50 I've gone thru almost half and consistently get coasters. I checked the dvd+R id using dvdinfo and its a Ritek R02G, and from what I've read on the forum those are more or less crap. Now, I picked up some "Spin-X" dvd-R which the ID said it was made by MBI (Moser Beaur) and not a single coaster so far, but I need the dvds to be inkjet printable and these dvd-r's aren't.

So, what I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction is what type of media works the best and is most compatible with DVD Players (including PS2 & xbox) that is inkjet printable, doesnt matter if its -R or +R as long as it doesn't give me coasters.

Oh, I never burn faster than 2.4x

    Any ideas??

Thanks in advance for all your help..

  2. Can't help you with ink jet printables, but any media made in japan like Taiyo Yuden, Sony, and Maxell is a safe bet. RitekG04 work well in XBOX drives but Ritek's consistency isn't what it used to be and the made in japan media is no longer that much more expensive.

  3. I've burned about 75-100 memorex +R (Media ID is Ricohjpn 001) at 12X in my NEC w/hacked firmware from the cdfreaks forum...Not a coaster yet. They have the dull white inkjet printable face. Bought from Amazon.com months ago...

    Inkjet Printable?

With the 3500, (in my experiences)

    Avoid:
    Optodisc
MCC 01RG20 (I know some will disagree with that.)

    Good Stuff:
Taiyo Yuden, +R burn at 16x flawlessly w stock firmware.
Taiyo Yuden, -R burn at 12x flawlessly w/ stock
Prodisc F01, Silver Inkjet, I've had great results.

    Questionable:
    Ritek G05 White Inkjet
Prodisc F01, White Inkjet. (I've had good results with these, but others havnt shared my success, while some have).

If you check my past posts, I've put up scans of a ton of media types, and listed inkjet etc or not, where I bought from in most cases, and such. (KProbes, DVDInfo's, Decrypter Logs, CDSpeed etc).

Oh, and FYI - I've had actually flawless results with CMC MAG E01...

Even at 12x. <shrug> Buy these at your own risk though, I've read too much about people's burners not liking this type of media to ever recomend it, but my results have been nothign shy of great...(I'd put them on par with Silver Inkjet Printable Prodisc F01's).
