  1. I'm about back up my entire mp3 collection to dvd-r's using Nero. I have the option of choosing to make an mp3 disc or a data disc. My dvd player reads both and burning data cd's is much faster but that's what concerns me. What is the difference between the two? And I guess this question shouldn't be limited to dvd because currently I only make mp3 cd-r's to play in my truck but I discovered that my radio also plays data cd-r's with mp3 files on them. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

BTW My goal is to have every album I on dvd with an alphabatized list indicating the disc number of every album/artist. And eventually have like a 100 disc dvd changer so that all my music is at my fingertips with instant gratification. Of course the dvd changer will be connected to my home theatre system.

i thought a data dvd and mp3 dvd were the same thing

when i hover my mouse over the "Make MP3 Disc" icon in nero it says "creates a data disc from your MP3 files...."

if your truck plays MP3's on a dvd then you should be right.

btw . your goal is my goal as well but i dont think i want to have all my songs on DVD's with a DVD changer, well maybe thats the way i should go

Im still not sure how i want to do it ,

i would like to store them somewhere, maybe on my PC
have them in some kind of order so i can retrieve them easily
and then deliver them some way to anywhere in my house and/or backyard

  4. To burn mp3's all you have to do is Burn it as DATA. Data is Data , but if your player does not support mp3 then you must make somthing like a Wma Disc.I think.

  5. I thought they were the same also but I noticed that when you make an mp3 disc in Nero, it takes much longer to add the files to the project than it does when it is a data disc. Although I get the same result, I am wondering will I pay in the long run for taking the shortcut.

As far as whether or not my player supports dvd-audio, I'm pretty sure it does, (the philips dvp 642 plays everything) but , my next question would be how do you create dvd-audio, I hope it doesn't involve any lengthy conversion process cuz I'm talking about over 400 albums.

    DVD-Audio
DVD-Audio or sometimes called DVD-A is a separate format from DVD-Video. It is a format specifically designed to provide the highest possible audio fidelity capable on DVD. DVD-Audio provides for audio in stereo and in multi-channel surround in a wide range of specifications. In addition to audio, a DVD-Audio disk can contain a limited amount of video, which can be used to display text, such as lyrics or notes. DVD-Audio can only be played on DVD Players with DVD-Audio support (most DVD Players do not support this format). DVD-Audio is currently competing with SACD as the new audio defacto standard. This maybe because you are not making a Mp3 disc , When in fact your maybe making a Audio Disc. different format. How many Songs approximately do you get on a Cd-r? With mp3 you can get 30 100 maybe more.
