hi all,
i have 2 pc's which have been configured to network with each other but im having trouble for sharing my printer on the second machine . My question is do i have to install the printer software on second pc in order to print?

For me it's not necessary.
When I installed my shared printed I didn't select local printer, but printer connected to an other PC. In my case I have XP in both PCs. Take a look to the firewalls programs.Minds are like parachutes. They only function when they are open ! -
It shouldn't necesarily make a difference but, are both computers in the same workgroup? When you setup printer sharing on the machine that's connected to the printer, does it show in the printers folder that it's shared? There should be a hand underneath the printer. If this is the case, are you able to see the connected computer from the networked computer in My Network Places? If so, try sharing a folder temporarily to see if that works. When you get to a certain point in the Add Printer Wizard, it will ask you for drivers if they're not already built into the OS.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
