This is a followup from my last post.
I ran the Determine Maximum Speed option in Nero which then would only allow me to backup DVD video files at 4 speed instead of 8 speed because it said my source was too slow. What? my 5500rpm hard drive is too slow. I don't think so. A 5400 hard drive is still a lot faster than an 8 speed DVD recorder as far as I know. Could my source of the DVD video on the 5500rpm hard drive really be too slow to record at 8 speed? Do you really need a 7200rpm drive to do DVD recording at 8 speed? It doesn't make any sense too me.

As you haven't bothered to fill in any of your computer details or give any indication as to what sort of drives, how are the IDE channels configurered, is DMA enabled, etc, nobody will be able to give an answer. The crystal ball is currently non-functioning.

Actually I have. As I mentioned in the first line that this was a followup from my last post where I mentioned a lot of my computer details. That post is followed in the directory after this one. I didn't include the computer details here because otherwise this post would be swamped in graphs and graphs of computer details. I do remember enabling DMA. The Maxtor IDE drive where the files are located is the master drive. I am sure I have the DVD drive on the secondary. The rest of the computer details is in the post followed by this one about DVD Decrypter with DVD Shrink not working and DVD X Copy working.

As you're so new the ink is still wet on your membership card, I've ploughed through all the irrelevant stuff on your previous post and found this:
DiskPeripheral : Maxtor 96147U8 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
DiskPeripheral : Maxtor 90432D3 atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On
CdRomPeripheral : DVDRW IDE1108 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On
There is your answer, your Primary Master drive has DMA disabled. As Jim says, all you need do is fill in the details in your profile and they'll appear at the top of each post. -
Thanks much Richard_G,
I really messed up bad not turning on that DMA for the master drive. And I will try to put my system information inside my posts for future problems. Having DMA off was probably the reason for all the burn failures I was having.
