Happy Holidays everyone! I am hoping one of you gracious folks can help me with a problem that I'm very close to ripping my hair out over! I keep getting a buzzing noise when I try and play my dvds. I have video, but only buzzing audio. I have a TEAC DV-W58E burner, a KOSS 4110 standalone and a cyberhome 300 dvd player. I have tried the following:
imation rw dvd+rw 2x = good on KOSS
fujifilm dvd+r 4x = good with original to copy, bad with avi to dvd (buzz sound) - Cyberhome
HP dvd+R 8x = buzz sound on Cyberhome
HP DVD+RW 4x = buzz sound on cyberhome
Ritek dvd+r 4x = good with original to copy, not sure about avi to dvd
I also have another dvd player that plays pretty much everything.
I use canopus, besweet, TDA, and copytodvd to make my avi to dvd. 224 audio.
I need to find a media that will work with my burner and three dvd players. One is my grandfathers and I'm trying to give him so things to watch, but I'm having no luck. I'm thinking this may be an audio issue since original to copys always seem to work...but when I create my own from an avi it doesn't. Can anyone help?

What type of Canopus do you have? Just curious because if it is the ADVC-100 then the audio should be locked in sync with the video. What I am driving at is that it seems as though you really do not need to use Besweet.
My suggestion, since you already have TDA is to use CCE Basic to convert
your avi to compliant MPEG and then author and burn your DVD with TDA. Leave the audio alone. CCE Basic is an excellent avi to mpeg converter and is reasonably priced at $58.

Use LPCM audio or AC-3 audo but DO NOT use MP2 audio.

If you need another software DVD player, try Media Player Classic. It's small, free, and fast. I prefer it over PowerDVD most of the time. And it's only one file, with no installation required. So nice.

Is there a difference in sound quality with PCM like what I get when I load AVI into Canopus and it spits out an audio stream and AC3 which I get from loading that audio stream into Besweet and converting it? It seems as though my dvds are now working when I don't use Besweet to convert to AC3. Is there anyway to convert an avi file to audio with 5.1 dolby digital? I think most of the stuff I have is only two channel though...

There - it's usually the disc itself not the stuff on it - though if it's not in proper dvd format it might not play properly either.

(and also - it's BURNED not PRESSED - so it won't work 100% of the time on 100% of the players. That's the nature of recordable media)

For 5.1 vids (which should already have an AC3 stream) I use the Demux option in VirtualDubMod and then run it through AC3Fix (might not always be required, but its good to be safe)
