  1. Hey everyone -

Thanks so much for all the help you've given me so far...I'm gonna take back my Apex to Circuit City next week and I've narrowed down the choices to the Pioneer 343 and 434. Just a few questions I hope you can help me with so I can choose one.

    1) Is the 340 just the silver version of the 343? As in, same video quality and all that?

    2) Which of the two will have the better VCD/SVCD playback picture quality on a standard TV?

    3) I heard something like the 343 doesn't play SVCD (480X480) in full screen or something? Can this be fixed? Is there a way around it? Does the 434 have the same problems?

    4) Overall, which would you go with? I'm mainly interested in VCD/SVCD playback and getting the best picture/sound possible.

    Thanks so much!

  2. My 343 plays SVCD full screen just fine. It seems to have trouble with NTSCFilm VCDs though.

  3. Hey everyone -

So I decided to go with the 343, but...

I go to Best Buy today and all they have is the 341 and they say the 343 is no longer made.

Does anyone know the differences between the 341 and the 343? Does the 341 have the same features or is it out performed by the 343?

I'd really appreciate any help I could get.

    Thanks a lot!

You can get the 434 from sears for $134, just look undetr yahoo shopping for the lowest on-line price, print it out, take it to sears and they will match it.

  5. I was also wondering which one has better (S)VCD playback? I own a 434 but it's not REAL progressive. That's not an issue with me, but playback quality of (S)VCDs is.
