    AT the CES show - It appears that Samsung is giving the MPAA one more thing to fret over this year, a "dual-tray DL DVD recorder, permitting direct disc-to-disc copying of disks , is set for the third quarter with a $500 price tag. Samsung says it can copy two hours of video in 30 minutes."

    Ahead/Nero's Recode system also annouced - doesn't break the encryption, it merely copies it... Therefore in fact it doesnt break any laws. Other makers are expected to use this technolgy also as it catches on ..

    Ahead/Nero says it plans to fight any legal challenges..

    Very cool, but I bet anything the patent holders for CSS file a patent infringement suit. That is what happened to 321 Studios when they retained the Macrovision flag in the backups made by DVD-X-Copy.

    Remove it-> violate DMCA
    Keep it-> violate patent

    It will be interesting to see Ahead fight this one since they should have more resources then 321 Studios did.

    Hello,

    Weren't they the source of some of the most copyright infringement via p2p??? I remember hearing that they had a massive sting operation the last couple of years to root it out....... (sorry if this gets into politics I'll stop...)
