  1. I am having trouble fitting my divx on DVD when converting using TMPGEnc. I use GSpot and the bitrate calculator. I convert audio seperately. Sometimes when I am done I have a 9 gig video file! I believe I am using the proper bitrate. Could it be the frame size I am using?

    Thanks in advance

It has nothing to do with frame size.

All you need to do is:
    1. Put the running time in
    2. Select the audio bitrate you are going to use
    3. Use the Calculated Bitrate as your video bitrate

That said, I think something else might be causing your issues, such as MP3 VBR or AC3 audio. TMPGEnc for one sometimes struggles and has been known to exhibit funky behaviour when this is the case.

If you provide some details about your source file, we might be able to offer some more meaningful advice
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Thanks Jim,

It is a divx avi file. I am using 2 pass vbr and entering min , max and average(which I get from calculator) in TMPGEnc Right?

OK. If it's 23.97fps, then you're best to keep it that way (more information in this thread). I'd suggest you take a look at my AVI 2 DVD guide, which guides you through the bitrate calculator, TMPGEnc Plus settings, and encodes to AC3 with ffmpeggui (so basically everything you're doing here!)
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. I am doing it that way because I read your guide already. Let me say it is easy to understand for a newbie and works great! Thanks alot. I'll try these files again. I'm probably just missing something.

OK. Do you think you could post screenshots of each TMPGEnc tab in the settings ? Maybe I can spot something that is NQR
    If in doubt, Google it.

  13. Hi Jim,

I tried it again and followed your guide to a tee. I ended up with a 5.5 gig file. Re-booted computer, started over, did the exact same thing and it worked ( 4.2 gig file ). wierd. Thanks for all your help Jim. It seems o.k now. I was mainly worried about frame size but you said file size has nothing to do with it.
On an un-related question. Why when I burn with 8x blank dvd with DVD dycrypter at any speed does my movies seem to freeze on my standalone? I use 4x blank's and burn at the same speed and they work perfect?

    Confused

B/C your 8X blanks are crappy, maybe?
