Hi,
I just bought a Pioneer DVR-108 which can burn dual layer DVD disks, not that I have tried this yet.
My question is can most standalone DVD players (attached to TVs) be able to play dual layer disks?
Also any idea when the dual layer DVD media will fall in price?
Thanks.

I've burned about 20 DL disks with my Pioneer 108 (Verbatim and Ritek), and they all play back perfectly on all my stand-alone players - a Philips 642, a JVC (I forget the model #), and a cheap Sylvania TV/DVD combo unit.
The price has been dropping, but not as much as many of us would like to see yet. The first DL disk I got back in September was about $15. I got some a month ago for $5 after rebate. Unfortunately, I couldn't get many at that price. They seem to be about $8-10 now. Still, they have dropped almost half in 4 months. I'm hoping they eventually get down to $2-3. I think they will by the fall. -
I agree with Mawdryn on the pricing of DL Discs. I have burned maybe 10 DL DVD's and they all play back flawlessly on my Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, and Panasonic DVD players.
