shadow, whatever the reason for my post, I can assure you it is none of YOUR concern. You may have noticed that I didn't refer to YOU by name.

However, to politely answer you question, yes, I have had a few know-it-alls (not Jim, btw) give me the "do it my way or go to..." crap. Mostly, I've had a great experience on this site - best on the web for any topical discussion that I have found.

I posted in this thread to alert some to the fact that they do not have to answer if they are annoyed by the question. Just keep quiet and move on. I'll now include those who want to assign "guilt" to others - even though I have no idea what that means.

The clueless newbie invasion has begun, and will last a couple of months. I just post links for them to read (of course, that's been too hard for some of them too , eh Jim? ).

Helping people is great, but I'm just going to hand them the TP and give some quick instructions, I won't help them wipe (not here, not for free). This is all you can expect from a free forum.

If a newbie acts up, use the "report this post" link [/color][/b]and mods will take care of it. If they are lazy, just ignore them, as they will then be forced to either read or quit.

I rest my case.

Do you not see how very foolish this is? If you know how to do all this stuff then there would be no need for a help forum! If you are offended by folks who know less than you (on THIS subject ONLY, I'd suspect) then post only in the advanced forum.

You, LS REGULARILY post answers in the "NEWBIE" form with condesending, know-it-all one or two word answers then cry if anyone dares question you as to "why" or "is there another way". I'd find some examples of this buit I'm too lazt to search for them!

To be brutally honest with you, I read your guide and I instantly thought it had quite a few flaws. Sure, it worked for you, but IMHO that was more good luck rather than good management. Heck, I'm in PAL land but even I spotted some areas where I KNEW issues would arise with NTSC. Because you didn't have a thread set aside for feedback, I couldn't post my critique of your guide anywhere, so maybe that's something to think about in the future ...

Well, at the very top of the guide is my red-linked "AlecWest" name which takes people to my profile page where I could be PM'd ... and at the very bottom of the guide is my red-linked "J. Alec West" name which takes people to an email form page. But of course, I didn't indicate what those links were for. Perhaps I should put a linkable icon on the guide saying "Click Here To Send Hate Mail"

But, I'm not hurt. I love criticism and, if I'm wrong, actually appreciate it. As you might guess, I put a lot of work into that guide and only wrote it when I had two people who loved the result ... my friend who wanted me to do the conversion ... and me, of course. I assumed criticisms would come later, allowing me to further refine the guide while retaining its intended purpose ... a conversion guide that even a neophyte could understand. Not that I think people should feel obligated to help me refine it. But, it would have been nice to hear something about it ... even an unkind word ... before it was unceremoniously delinked.

Mod's don't have access to anyone's PM messages. Only Baldrick can view those.

There is no difference reporting PMs or posts, as we have a reports thread for that. If you don't feel the mods here are qualified to police this forum, then perhaps you need to tell Baldrick how you feel.

Is part of your "be friendlier to the noobs" strategy involve gaffer tape over your fingers ? I've noticed a few posts now where you've just rolled the eyes and not passed comment .... as if you've implemented a finger-retardant scheme .... Ripper2860's black electrical tape by any chance ?
