how is conversion to text-based subtitle using OCR done?
R there different kinds of OCR method for this purpose? Where can I find websites that shows the concepts or algorithms behind it? Any suggestions?
I've tried searching the net but all it returns me are how to do them using third party softwares. I hope to learn the concepts behind this process.
Besides using OCR algorithm, are there other ways of converting DVD subtitles to text?
also anyone knows what is the *.idx file all about?
Please help!!![]()

I guess the idx file contains time or frame info for when the individual subs should be displayed...
As for OCR you either buy a component or create your own, like I think the author of Sub Rip has done. OCR is the only way, as DVD subs are images.
