I've got some strange problem capturing VHS:
I am trying to capture some VHS tapes using VirtualDub and PCTV. The OS is XP Pro.
When I am starting to capture, the very first 30 seconds are going without any problem - 0 drops, 0 jitter.
Then, the capture process stops for about 2-3 secons and the dropped frames counter is going to 80-90 (jitter is going crazy, however).
It stays at this number until the next 30 seconds, and the story repeats.
It happens at ANY resolutuion, with any codec (even with the DivX - so I can't blame hard drive).
The captured picture looks like - you know what - it is hard not to notice the 3 seconds freeze.
The machine is:
Athlon 1600+
512M DDR
60G 7200 (defragmented)
GeForce 2 Mx400 64M
PCTV Rave (latest drivers for XP)
Any ideas?

I have a near problem when capturing tv using pc tv rave + xp. Frame dropping is very high as compared with win98se.
I am trying wdm drivers. No frame drop. It seems to be a driver pb in xp. -
You are absolutely right about drivers.
I switched to WDM and the problem gone. No drops anymore.
