  1. I've got a bunch of older music videos in PAL mpeg1 format (I'm in the U.S.), and I'm wondering if there is a reason to convert to VOB NTSC if my home dvd player can play the original PAL Mpeg1 files after I burn them to dvd with TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6?
Does the video/sound quality increase with a VOB conversion from Mpeg1? I've used Winavi a bit, and it seems to work pretty well on Mpeg1 to VOB conversion, (for a noooobie like me).

    Thanks in advance,

If your home DVD player and TV can both play PAL, I'd save yourself the trouble of doing a PAL/NTSC conversion, because they're not pretty

The first thing to check is if your DVD player can play RAW MPEG burnt onto a disc as data, because that will save you having to do any conversions at all.

If not, basically you need to make your MPEG1 files DVD-compliant (info here). I personally wouldn't use WinAVI for this (I'd use TMPGEnc and then TMPGEnc DVD Author to author), but if you're happy with the output you're getting then I see no reason to change the way you're doing it

BTW, converting MPEG to VOB does nothing to the quality
    If in doubt, Google it.
