Lite-On DVDRW LDW- 851S

Hello,

I have this problem where my drive can never write media that is branded 8 X burn speed,I did flash the drive a few months ago to update it for diffrent media brands,but still i can only get a 4 X burn.I check the lite on site for updates but there are no new ones for this drive.Is there any way i can get the drive to write at 8 X speed?

What media type are you using? -R media can only be burned at 4x no matter what firmware you use.

Thank you,is that just for the Lite-on drives?All i use is DVR-R but they are adveritsed at 8X burn speed.

Well, the official specs for the 851S is 8x +R and 4x -R... the 812S burner, which was released a few months after the 851S last year, was the first LiteOn burner to support 8x -R.
