  1. I have some existing dvd's from our Christmas church services that I need to edit and "re-burn". I downloaded Mac the Ripper and ran it. It created a VIDEO_TS folder with multiple files in it. My question is.. what do I do with these files? I would like to use DVDSP or iDVD to create my new dvd's, but what software is best to edit the file(s) MTR created? I've seen references to DVD2One and DVDReMaster, but am unsure which one is correct, if either. If anyone can point me to a resource or general 'how-to' info that would be appreciated.

Use MTR with movie only mode (or try yadeX) and open the mpeg file in mpegstreamclip - here you can do some simple cutting and deleting and export a mpeg for DVDSP, or export your movie to a DV stream for editing in iMovie/FCP (use this method only if you need to add fancy transitions-titles etc. since you will lose quality in the conversion).

  3. Thank you live4ever for the info. I downloaded mpegstreamclip and converted the VOB to an mpeg file successfully. I cannot however import it into DVDSP, as I receive an file format error. So I am proceeding with the export as DV. Is the convert to mpeg the proper process, or should I export to QT? I know that DVDSP can import a MOV file just fine.

If you have DVDSP, you can use MacTheRipper in Title - Chapter mode, and select the "D" button, which will demux the VOBs into their component streams. Then, click the "Streams" button, and in the new drawer that shows up, select the m2v stream, along with the audio stream(s) you want. This will save the DVD's contents as streams that DVDSP can import. You can take it from there.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."
