YUDEN000-T02-00 is for DVD+R...

Only the DVD+R were "Made In Japan".....

DVD-R is Taiwan...

I remember a thread from a couple of weeks ago saying that SONY is now using MADE IN JAPAN DVD-R discs but they aren't Taiyo Yuden ID CODE but instead appear to be something SONY is making themselves?

Not sure about that also not sure if they are good or not.

thanks for the heads up.. I picked up a few packs.. I've always had really good luck with TDK media in all my drives/stand alone dvd players.. So I'm happy with them.. Plus as much as I like ordering media online in 100 packs.. I REALLY like the 50 packs so I can just burn and then restack/store disks back on the spindles all lazy like. heh

Sure you can do with a 100 disk spindle too but then finding something is a huge pain

The 4X Maxell DVD-R Japan are TYG01 (Taiyo Yuden).

If I recall this is the TDK media code for DVD-R discs.

They are MADE IN TAIWAN but according to LordSmurf they are using the same equipment as when TDK used to make the discs in Japan so he along with other people think the MADE IN TAIWAN TDK DVD-R discs are actually very good quality ... much better than any of the other MADE IN TAIWAN DVD-R discs out there.

Having said that though you are still probably better off with DVD-R discs that are truely MADE IN JAPAN like Maxell or Taiyo Yuden.

No. This is not "first class" media.

First class media in my mind is limited to:

1.) Taiyo Yuden DVD-R
2.) Maxell DVD-R that says MADE IN JAPAN

TTG02 made in Japan seems to be good judging by results posted on Japanese DVD enthusiast sites, but good luck finding it anywhere outside of Asia. TTG02 made in Taiwan in my personal experience isn't very good.
