I am having a problem converting my avi file
656x480, 30fps, I use TMPGEnc to reencode. I am trying to convert to DVD compatible format. 352x480 or 720x480 (the one that produces better quality)
TMPGEnc will do the video, but what will do the audio?
I current use Besweet to reencode my audio can I use this for the audio?
Please let me know, Thanks.

besweet should be fine most most conversions, but without knowing what type of audio your source has (hint: details from GSpot or AVICodec please
), it is sorta hard to recommend anything solid. Most downloaded AVIs (I think it's safe to make this assumption) either have AC3 audio or VBR MP3 audio. If it's AC3 then I wouldn't be converting anything. Just demux it from the AVI using Virtualdubmod, and mux it back with the re-encoded video stream in your authoring program. If it's VBR MP3 audio, then IMO you should extract the audio to a WAV file then convert it to MP2 or AC3 using besweet or ffmpeggui.
If in doubt, Google it. -
You have a 30fps video w/audio, and you want to encode to dvd mpeg...
What's the problem again?
Load the thing into tmpgenc, encode at 29.97fps, including audio.

@BCAESE:
I don't know what you've read, or who you've been speaking to, but I think you're one highly confused individual
Forget about everything for a minute - clear the mind ........
Now, we are ready to begin ....
You have a 656 X 480 source to begin with, so a rough calculation tells us that it is "less" to go up to 720 X 480 (Full D1) than it is to go down to 352 X 480 (Half D1). This is important. This means that you're probably not going to notice much if any loss of quality if you resize up, because you're only resizing up roughly 9% of the horizontal resolution. However, if you resize down to Half D1, you'll be "throwing away" about 40% of the horizontal resolution. Now normally I say never resize up, but IMO in this case it's not going to make much difference resizing up so I'd stick with 720 X 480 if I were you.
Now that the biggest decision has been made, I would suggest you try this guide. It steps you through all the different steps you'll need to take, with plenty of instructions and pictures
See how you go with that guide and post back if you have any queriesIf in doubt, Google it.
