Well, this sure feels like *news* to me, so I posted it here.
.
.. feel free to move it elsewhere's if it should be.
While under Windows 98 and using Opera Web Broswer, I was able to ...
During DOWNLOADING files (assuming video files) you couldn't view them
inside any viewers until the whole file was competely D/L 'ed, else you'd
get the "access denied.." error message (Under W98) but you *can* view a
file during the D/L process by pausing it, and then resuming it. Somehow,
the "lock" link is removed. (probably much like under XP) I found this out
when I lost my internet connection (a moment ago) while I was D/L 'ing a
short 5mb MPEG file, and when I opend the 948k size (that's where it broke
off when I lost the connection) file inside vdubMOD, it playedThen, I
waited another 30 seconds or so and found that it had added more video. I
kept doing this, andstill no problems.
I always wanted this feature, but either I had to upgrade to XP or find an
app that allowed me to do this - and I didn't want either one. Now I don't
have to. Even now, the file is still D/L 'ing, and I can view it (to its end)
but the strange thing here is, the filesize is still 948kI guess,
when it's completely D/L 'ed, it will stamp with 5mb. Time will tell.
I know it's not much, but I'm sharing this for those still under Windows 98
and need something like this in their D/L's. Its nice to be able to stop a
D/L if the video is a crapy one.
