  1. I'm using a version of virtual dub that came with my MP4 player.I go to open video then I save it as something and everything works fine except when I play it the audio is ahead of the video.I was wondering if someone can help me fix this problem.Oh, and I am converting DVD to avi.

In Vdub there is an audio skew adjustment.

Audio -> Interleaving -> Audio Skew Correction.

Just try different values on a part of the video until you're happy with the sync (1000 ms = 1 sec)

It's pretty much guess work and 'trial & error', the best way is to pick a part of the video that has a "short, sharp" sound (like a door slamming, footsteps or gun shot etc.) and estimate the time difference in the visual event and the sound). Then put that value in the skew and 'preview' the playback, then add or subtract a few millisecs until your are spot on!

This only works if the sound has a constant skew throughout the movie, if it 'creeps', e.g. starts out OK but gradually gets further and further out of sync as the movie plays then you will need to use the Audio filters in VirtualDub to shrink or stretch the audio.

A headshot talking scene is also good ... lipreading should make it easy to synch up

Goldwave has a timewarp feature that can help with this also ...
    If in doubt, Google it.
