i am setting up a media center and my main functionality will consist of playing movies that are in ISO or IMG format.

i will have a library of the ISO's, but the roadblock i have encountered is basically i haven't figured out the easiest way i can get the actual media center application to play these dvd iso's.

by default media center will not, it will only recognize mpeg2, so without having to convert all the retail dvd's to an mpeg2 format, right now i would rather just use a program like daemon tools or alcohol 120 to mount the iso, then play it that way.

i would like to end up just using a remote (like the firefly media center remote), but i will have a wireless kb/mouse setup just in case.

any suggestions on my main goal?

Why does it have to be .ISO format? Why can't you just rip the DVDs using DVDShrink and play them from their uniquely named folders, like "c:/rips/Movie Name/VIDEO_TS/*.*"? THen you could use PowerDVD or WINDVD to play them as DVDs from folders and not have to mess with mounting virtual drives to read the ISO.

The files will be the same size as the .ISO files so I don't see an advantage to going the .ISO route.
