Just replaced my 2.53Ghz CPU with a 3.06Ghz CPU. Used old heatsink/fan with no paste or anythng. New CPU idles around 34C but shoots up to 62C after encoding for awhile. Any recommendations for a new heatsink/fan? Don't want to use the old one as I intent to upgrade an older system with the 2.53Ghz components. Thanks in advance.

I use a Thermalright SP-94 with mine (they don't come with fan).
http://www.overclockers.com/articles373/p4sum.asp has some tests
on various heatsinks - though it doesn't look like it's been updated for
a little while.

I use Swiftech heatsinks on my 3.06s. They don't top 50°C during long encodes unless the ambient temps are pretty warm (better than 30°C). I've got Panaflow medium-speed 80mm fans on top of them. If you aren't overclocking you could probably get away low-speed fans like the Vantec Stealth and save on some noise.
