Ok. I'm using windvd creator to convert my digital camera clips. My clips are mpeg1 originally and am using windvd creator to convert to mpeg2.

here is the bit i'm having problems expressing myself so sorry if i'm confusing.....

In windvd creator, i import my clips and they show up as thumbnails. the thumbnails are darkish! when i click on a thumnail, the windvd preview has the exact same darkish picture as the thumbnail.

now then, when i click play to view this clip, the clip playing lights up and thus aint dark no more. it shows a viewable clip!

Right! so i do my converting and i save it as a mpg file on my pc. The output however shows the darker color as i saw in my thumbnails and not as i saw them in the preview!!!

I've done a search on here and saw this thread>>>
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1114810&highlight=video+dark#1114810

The replies were that if i burnt my clips onto dvd, it would show up as the lighter image as i saw in my preview. However, i have some questions which i hope someone can answer....

does this thread apply to my case??? what is gamma????? if, my dvd player doesnt show up as lighter color, then what can i do to solve this problem???

also, following from the thread i found, they said that pc monitors are different to the tv ones, hence the differences in color. But if so, why did my pc preview the clips as a lighter color? if it can preview as a lighter color which i want, then surely the converting should be the same? yes??? *very confused look*

sorry for my post. i had re-written this many times as i didnt know how to explain my problem.

thanks
