  1. i'm basically trying to make an HDCD. how is it done? how do you "hide" the extra 4 bits and still have the file remain compatible with burning programs?

sorry if this has been posted before, i couldn't find anything like it in the search.

Probably gonna have to search around on an HDCD site for this one. I don't think there is an encoder for HDCD, so you should be able to burn a CD at 44.1kHz 20bit and try it out on both a regular CD player and an HDCD enhanced CD player. Can't hurt to try it.

Q: How do CDs become HDCD?

A: Mastering engineers all over the world use Pacific Microsonics' professional Model One and Model Two HDCD Processors to produce HDCD recordings. The HDCD Processor is a two-channel analog-to-digital (A/D) and digital-to-analog (D/A) converter, and digital processor with more than 200 millions of instructions per second (MIPS) in computing power.
