  1. When using VirtualDubMod to extract WAV files from AVI files I find that the audio on a 1 1/2 hour movie is truncated down to around half an hour.

This is to say that when extracted, the WAV file is 30 mins long when the audio on the film lasts the full 90.

This has me flummoxed. Any ideas?

    Try mplayer or avi decompressor.
mplayer.exe -ao pcm -vo null -vc dummy input.avi -aofile output.wav
