I recently bought a DVR (Panasonic) and am recording to both a HDD and DVD-RAM. In my computer, I have a DVD/CD drive that will play the DVD-RAM video. I would like to copy the RAM video onto my computer hard drive, and then edit it and then burn it to a DVD. However, it format of the RAM video has an extension that I am not familiar with (I'm at work and don't have the RAM in front of me, but I seem to recall it being a .VRO extension). How can I convert the video to either mpeg or avi?

TMPGEnc DVD Author can do this for you. Use the "Add DVD Video" function, and TDA will recognize what is on your DVD-RAM and convert to MPG-2 and download to your HDD. You can then use TDA to edit, author and burn. Or you can use the MPG file that TDA created, and use it in another authoring program. TDA has a 30 day trial and I highly recommend trying this method.
That's my opinion, and if you don't like it, I'll change it.

  6. Simple

Copy the .vro file to your computer and rename the extention to .mpg.
Now you can import to your favorite video editing program to edit the movie as you desire.
Once finished or if you didnt need to edit it, import the .mpg file into your favorite dvd authoring program and burn away.
If you want to create a menu or add chapter use TMPGEnc DVD Author to import the .mpg file, create chapter stops and use its templates to create a menu or be creative and create your own.

    Hope this helps

    Happy Holidays!
