  1. What I'm looking for is a way to backup encrypted DVDs using two drives. The first to read (DVD-ROM) and the second to write (DVD-R), hopefully at the same time.

I understand that there are compression issues and I will need to compress the full disk down to a DVD-R size, and I hope to use DVDShrink for this, because I've used this at work a few times and like it. But that was only for reading THEN writing. But at the same time I'm willing to spend a few bucks to buy a program that makes this easier.

So if anyone knows a way to cut down on copying time by writing at the same time as reading (and decrypting), please let me know.

    Thanks.

On the fly is rarely encouraged.

It is better to rip the dvd to the hard drive first then burn.

  3. I've tried this what you get is crappy dvds. What I finally did was to invest in a faster burner Pioneer108 and use the fastest dvd+ on the market. It cut down the burning time big time.

  4. Thanks....

Just providing the "on-the-fly" search term was enough to get me going in the right direction on this topic looking at other forums. That and if I try it I'll make sure I've got my drives on seperate IDE cables.
