TMPGEnc DVD Author can do it a couple of ways. One is you could use the default theme, and just move the thumbnails off the screen until they are outside the TV-safe area. Two is create a new custom theme, and choose one without thumbnails.
    If in doubt, Google it.

With tda when you choose custom menus you can replace the thumbnails with jpg, bmp, mpv etc.. or just choose letters.

I believe moving the Thumbnail out of the TV safe area would cause an issue as isn't it the Thumbnail that lights up (or frames) when that particular film/clip is being selected?

The Custom theme would work fine however; this is what I nearly always use.

It may well, although I *think* it highlights the title text as well, doesn't it ? (I can't remember)
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. I will have to look into that one when I get home. I have been watching some DVDs, that were given to me, recently which were authored on Ulead and they only frame the thumbnail. I wonder if I was getting them mixed up with ones that I have made?

It probably doesn't really matter, since we both agree that the other way (making a custom theme) will definitely address the OP's issues
    If in doubt, Google it.

ok the issue of the menu with no thumbnail is resolved with tmpg dvd author.....thanx guys.....but i tried 2 dvds.....no copy protection on either....first one gives me some kind of error in chinese writing....so i used mpeg-vcr to pull a dvd compliant mpg and i get vid bitrate of 9800 and 256 audio...tmpg says combined its too high about 200 kbps or so....next is 9802 straight from the dvd into tmpg....i get an error saying this is too high....how can this be when its the exact output of the vobs?
