MacTheRipper 2.6 has been posted. Here are the changes:

    • Added the ability to extract DVDs with ARccOS copy protection, along with new Full Disc and Main Feature modes for those discs
    • Added the ability to handle VOBs with bad sectors, which get padded with dummy data, and notify the user at the end of extraction that read errors were encountered
    • Added bad cell detection in Title Only and Title – Chapter modes, so they automatically get skipped; useful for ARccOS DVDs
    • Added the ability to demux elementary streams in Title Only and Title – Chapter modes, along with the ability to choose which streams will get extracted.
    • Removed deprecated preferences
    • Fixed large crashing bug that occurs if the user chooses Title Only extraction, and then immediately chooses another mode
    • Fixed a bug in Non-PGC Title Only and Title – Chapter modes where the output would be incorrect
    • Fixed a crashing bug on certain DVDs with particular IFO issues
    • Reduced the amount of UI updates during extraction to hopefully reduce the amount of crashes on certain computers, namely dual-processor Macs
    • Improved progress bar accuracy
    • Removed ‘Real Time’ prescan option in the preferences, as Pre Scan is required for certain functions to work properly now, including ARccOS detection and chapter extraction

Eventually, the link in your forums should point to our website, when that gets updated. It might be a little while, though, as we don't control that...

  10. Any way to use this to rip all (23) chapters of a concert DVD I have to mp3 audio? (I want to listen on my iPod)

Best I can find is to rip each separately to ac3, then convert each of those files to mp3.

    Thanks,
Mike (yes I own the DVD)

You're right; you need to rip each chapter to AC3, and then convert using something like mAC3dec. Version 2.7 of MTR will allow you to rip all chapters as separate files automatically, but you'll still need to convert from AC3. MTR is a ripper, not a converter. It will keep the files in whatever format they are on the DVD.

Why was the force read feature removed? I know on several occaisions I was forced to use it .

    Keep up the Great Work!

  14. I was also curious about the force read feature.

  15. the force read feature used to keep trying the bad sector for eternity.

Now it attemps to read , and if fails , padds the bad sector with dummy data maintaing the sector allignment on the rip...

So , in a word , a better version of it is in the code , permanently turned on.
