  1. I have DVDs that I recorded myself - TV programmes via EyeTV. I want them on my iPod.
I used MacTheRipper to extract the Main Feature but ended up with several small files.

    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB

I need to get a single file from MTR or else join these and convert to iPod using my Turbo.264 software and USB dongle.

Turbo.264 doesn't like these files. It works for a few minutes then locks up as if there's no EOF marker.
I tried using ffmpegX (which has worked in the past) to convert to MP4.AVI but ended up with video and no audio.

So I'm confused. Can you please tell me what to do, in what sequence? I have a MacBook 2.26GHz (Firewire version) running Snow Leopard (latest).

  2. That's excellent. Many thanks for taking the trouble to help. In fact I just discovered I already have MPEG Streamclip AND Apple's QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which work well.

However, converting to MPEG with MP2 audio is really fast, whereas exporting for iPod (with Turbo.264 plugged in) takes hours.
Not even sure that Streamclip is using the Turbo device.

  3. Hmm, I dragged the resultant .mpeg file into Turbo.264 direct and it reckons it will convert to iPod (standard) in just 40 minutes. That seems acceptable.
