The last time I asked this on the forums, the vast majority of people didn't know what a blog was (over a year ago). Let's see if anything has changed!
I find blogging quite a useful way of creating your own personal website. I personally have two... one which gives updates for the RMO (resident medical officer) Association at Wollongong Hospital and the other is a personal weblog: http://vitualis.blogspot.com
If you have a blog as well, post a link here!
Regards.

I blogged in 96. one of the 1st before it was even
called blogging. -
I added a blog to my personal page ...after our trip to Egypt last winter. I did it so all the facts would be in one place, in chronological order just in case I needed to push the matter legally.

Is having your blog for personal satisfaction, vitualis?, because judging by the amount of comments you get per entry, no one reads it. The same goes for everyone else.

Keep the political discussions at Politick please

I know, I know. Sorry Cap. It wasn't that political. If I wanted it to be I would have said...

I've read a bit from vitualis's blog in the past. Interesting but
no fancy stuff like disimpactation. Why does anyone
want to be in general medicine when you work your
arse to the bone? It's not as if there is much prestige
anymore. Pay sucks, hours suck, patients suck.
If you want to earn $$ and you are smart try law;
if you want to earn $$ and you are dumb try real estate. That's my unhumble opinion -

I blog mainly for personal satisfaction... it means I keep up to date with the news, and look up interesting bits of medical news. When I write a blog, I think about the issue. And sometimes when I want to look back on an particular issue in the future (e.g., if the topic comes back up) I can quickly find some old details.
Oh, so it was you eag182 who wrote one of the comments? Thanks for reading. Don't want to make this political, but I think that I've just written the truth. Just reported on the results of a simple poll and asked everyone (including your Americans) to remember to be decent. I fail to see how that can be construed as an "anti-US rant"
@ Capmaster: read your page. Sounds like your Egypt trip was a nightmare but your US agent was certainly pretty good. My wife and I are planning on going to Egypt sometime next year. I hope we have better luck than you!
@ Offiline: I'll leave manual disimpaction to either the nurses or surgical registrar...I've got plenty of funny ED stories which I haven't written... Like the time this guy who came to ED in the middle of the night worried that his poo was abnormal. He carefully wrapped his poo in toilet paper and had it in his pocket...
Weird people out there...

Well get writing. I love funny stories.
BTW your blog on celebrex failed to mention that
200 mg was the normal dose and that tests were
done at 600-800mg. I could do you a nice long qt
with common erythomycin @ double the dose too. -

The reason why this study is a flag is that data so far has mostly indicated that celecoxib does NOT increase cardiovascular risk (i.e., at all) and is probably slightly protective. If even celecoxib increases cardiovascular risk (being one of the least COX-2 specific coxibs) it is almost certain that the effect is a class effect, which is bad news for coxibs and COX-2 inhibitors in general since Merck went ahead and pulled rofecoxib off the market. It makes it hard for other manufacturers of COX-2 inhibitors to then justify leaving THEIR products on the market.

Hmm..choose classic NSAID's and bleed, COX-2 and you clot, steroids and say bye to your adrenal glands.
What next? We are running out of shark fin soup. -
