  1. Hi All. I am using the facilities of Blogspot, which is a free service offered by Google. Being an amateur video creator my main target is to post my video clips in my blog so that people can watch them. Although some video file types like avi, mpeg are supported by Blogspot, other popular and well-received types like SWF can not be uploaded. To circumvent this hurdle I have to upload the SWF files to other sites like google page creator and link them to the blog by inserting embedded code into the posting made to the blog. A cumbersome way to publish a video clip in a blog. To solve the problem I opened up a free account in Wordpress and tried to publish my video clips there. Although there is a lot of advertising for Wordpress in this matter, I unfortunately discovered that the free version of Wordpress does not support any video type at all. To post a video clip you have to purchase a higher version of Wordpress. My questions to the members of this forum are as follows:
    1) Is there any other way to publish SWF files in Blogspot?
    2) Does anyone know a way to publish SWF video in the free version of Wordpress.
    3) Could anyone please recommend any other free blogging service that supports SWF and other popular video formats? Thanks.

Sure it does. Here's my friend's Wordpress blog:

    http://roughinhere.wordpress.com/

I know he doesn't pay a dime for that blog. You can embed videos from several places, including YouTube. Only you can decide though, if you want your videos reencoded.
    2) Does anyone know a way to publish SWF video in the free version of Wordpress.
I know you can't do that without paying some money. You can only embed videos from the "approved" sites.

  3. Thanks for the reply. I have looked at your friends blog. These videos are from Youtube and Daily Motion. I know that I can publish in Wordpress once the video clip is uploaded and published in Youtube. What I want to do is to upload it directly to the blogger site, store it there and publish it in my blog. This is not possible or better to say very limited in the free version of Wordpress.

That's what I said in answer to your 2nd question above.

I've also investigated this a little bit, and as far as I know no free blogging service offers that. You'll have to pay for that service. If anyone does know of a free blogging service that offers that, I'd be happy to hear of it also.

  6. Googlepages service offers a possibility to upload and store video files and use them on internet. The service supports also the building of a website with menus and navigation capabilities. It has some limitations. I mentioned this shortly in my first posting. From the reactions of our forum members I conclude that the answers to my first two questions are negative. I shall go on searching for solutions and if I manage to find one I shall publish it in this forum. Thanks again.
