  1. I'm trying to hook up two computers to one monitor (CRT) and I was looking for some ideas. All I can think of is the video switch box, the kind that has two video ports in and 1 video port out. Sort of like the old printer switches.

    Thanks

Google "KVM Switch" (Keyboard/Video/Mouse) They switch all 3.

  5. Thanks for the help. All the ones I found on Newegg.com have poor reviews for gaming. I have on computer for gaming/surfing and the other is going to be a dedicated burner/encoding machine.

So the box thing is out. I'm going to try to network the two machines and see what happens

  6. Get a monitor with dvi & vga inputs. Connect one computer with dvi & one with vga. Dunno how the monitor knows which one to use but, hey sounds like something that would work,

Yep, I've used both KVM and belkin OmniView (actually have a 2 port OmniView under my desk) and what I found is that even with the very best shielded VGA cables, there still is a lot of degradation IMO. They are great for some purposes, but not so great for gaming and video

My monitor is a "plain Jane" 19" NEC multisync 95. I bought it in '99.

There were quite a few people saying both good and bad. Gamers = hated it. Basic users = Loved it. I guess it's alright if you're doing web design on one computer and surfing on the other.

  9. That's what i used mine for...Server admin duties and web development. At one time I had 3 8 port boxes cascaded. Soon as I tried it on my home system that I used for video capturing and editing, I saw the difference big time...I'm not really a gamer
