  1. hi,
i have the OEM version.it shows firmware ver. 1.0 . my question is anyone using different firmware version here with no problem? ive checked pioneer site and they have bunch of firmwares for 108, 108bk, 108x something like that, and confused wat to download. Sometimes(maybe one out of 30 burns) my drive burns so slow device buffer fluctuates from 0-100 just weird so decided to update my firmware....any help is greatly appreciated thanks....

I only see one version here for the 108, the rest are for other models, like the A08 (retail version).

  8. Sounds like your problem is not firmware related. But more on connection/set-up of burner

My burner comes with the Sony Viao PC so i doubt its a connection problem, i checked cdfreaks forum and a some people have problem flashing their oem drive also, im clueless though why my firmware version
is 1.0 I cant find any documentation that pioneer 108 has ver. 1.0 , anyway probably its a sony firmware i dont know...im just gonna stick with my firmware for now...thanks

  11. hi'
its properties says its Pioneer dvd-rw dvr 108 so as decrypter and dvdinfo pro...i contacted sony but they are no help. and they dont recommend updating the firmware from pioneer site. . someone from other forum recommended to use dvdflash to flash the drive with ver. 1.18 but its risky though.

  12. Seems odd that sony would use a pioneer when they have their own brand dvd drives ? Is it built into your system or in a external box ? New system or 2nd hand ?
What sort of burning speeds are you getting? If they are slow and you are using 8x media then it sounds a lot like its running in pio mode. A quick search of this forum will bring up how to fix that one.

  13. hi,
Its a Brand new system, its a built in drive...yes its kind of odd using a pioneer drive on a Vaio..but its one of the reason too i got this system, sony usually uses their dru-drives which i have trouble in the past......for the new drive now, actually its performing well, except sometimes (approx. 1 in every 30 burns) using decrypter it well burn so slow buffer will fluctuate from 0-100 % supposed to be 8x burn will take more than 30 mins to finish ( no other prog running, no anti virus running at the background, no screen saver etc. while burning)....but majority of burn at 8x=takes only 7-8 mins. ive not try other burning software though thats wat ill do next. its possibly decryters fault too (possibly) coz sometimes gives me error when starting to burn..."cannot lock volume for exclusive access" and when i untick lock volume....in options..then i noticed to have the above problem.[/quote]
