  1. so i took everyones advice that DVD Decrypter was easy to extract an ISO file and then quickly burn a backup on a DVD-r...and it was. I have 5 copies of each DVD of a 12 DVD set and i need to do 1 more of each. So i keep putting in the DVD-r, write to the harddrive, then write to the disc, delete files, and start the next one.

the 1st two went great...now im on the 3rd one and i get this "unrecovered read error - failed to extract sectors " where it says "oh no!" to me and i have to abort after 20+ retries. So i say to myself, i have 5 copies of that disc...one is bound to work. So i get out all 5 and try them 1 by 1 and get this error, but at different percentages of completion....like one was at 84% and the next at 7%...i dont get it.

can anyone help make this easier?

I'm confused...you get this error ripping, playing or burning?

Do the first 5 play alright?

    Is your harddrive heavily fragmented?

    How old is your burner?

Try ripping from a DVD ROM rather than the burner or vice-versa.

I'm at a bit of a loss, I've never had a disc that Decrytper wouldn't rip. I have had to re-install it before but I had made some drastic system changes.

Wish I could be more helpful.

You might try ripping in file mode. Just rip as many files as you can. When you get an error, skip that file and let it try the next one.

Once you've ripped as many files as you can from one disk- look at which ones couldn't be read. Put a different disk in and try to rip those files. With five different disks having errors at different points you should be able to get all the files.

You can't use Decrypter to burn those files to a new disk, but you can burn them with Nero, RecordNow, etc.

  5. my HD is not heavily fragmented at all, new burner, and other discs have worked fine. I try to ignore the file or hit retry but nothing gives. the 1st 5 play fine, i've tested them all, and my dvd burner is my dvdrom also.

  6. alright, forget it, nothing's working. i can keep trying this but it'll get hung up on the same spot and i cant figure out how to just read the same file from another disc and put it all in 1 folder.

i can copy the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS from the Disc to the Harddrive in full....now what's the easiest way to burn this so i can view it w/ all menus and everything intact as a dvd-r, im guessing not to do it as a dataDVD project...but how else? w/ what program?

  7. it sounds either like a media problem, cheap discs, errors on the ones your trying to back up,or have you tried in dvddecrypter, mode,ISO read,ISO write.thats a simple way to do it.
but i think its probably a media fault.
nero will let you copy files to a disc,in the way you want.

  8. that's what i have been using, DVD decrypter ISO read and write, but i get errors, on different portions of the disc for each copy. Other discs have worked fine, and its not the media. Not sure why its getting hung up and keeps retrying on its own.

where can i d/l nero to burn my Audio and video TS files? do i have to do it a special way or just straight data.

i cant figure out how to just read the same file from another disc and put it all in 1 folder.
If the disk is encrypted use "File Mode" in DVDDecrypter (you have to click on 'Mode' and select 'File F' to use the file mode. If it's not encrypted you can just use Windows (My Computer, Windows Explorer) to copy all the folders from the disk into a folder on your hard drive.

i can copy the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS from the Disc to the Harddrive in full....
So you now have the VIDEO_TS folder and AUDIO_TS folder on your HD?

now what's the easiest way to burn this so i can view it w/ all menus and everything intact as a dvd-r, im guessing not to do it as a dataDVD project...but how else? w/ what program?
You don't have to burn it to view it. There are many software DVD Players (PowerDVD, WinDVD) that will let you play the files just as if they were a DVD disk.

To burn it to a DVD-R, use a burning program such as Nero or RecordNow. You'll have to decide which program (and maybe which version) you're going to burn with before anyone can tell you exactly how to burn it.
