  1. Hi all,

I have a question regrading the creation of a dvd.
I have 10 .txt files containing some stories.
I would liek to find a way to import these stories onto the dvd and burn them.

I am looking for a way to automate this without having opening each file and copy and paste the current text.
All my text files are placeds in a subfolder called "stories".

Is there a way of "dynamically" ask the DVD to go and look into this folder and create a Listing of all files available?. (like craeting a hitlist of available stories?).

Is there also a way of dynamically create the menu link between title and story content?

    thanks in advance.

Is this for a DVD-ROM or a DVD-Video? If it's a DVD-ROM, you can make an HTML meny with links to the text files. For a DVD Video, you'd have to make a separate frame with text on it (like a BMP or JPG) for each story, then make a slideshow or other effect like that.

  3. It is for a DVD Video, play on TV player.
I know about the BMP or JPG solution, but this will take me ages, the number of stories can vary depending on the DVD i will create, i can sometimes only have 5, sometimes 50.
Also with the JPG soltuion, if my text is extremely long, i need to create 3,4 JPEG and create links between them.

It might be best to use a dvd authoring package that supports subtitles, then create a sub title script.

You can create the script with an app like sub station alpha. Then export to the format the the authoring software your using supports.

DVD Author supports subtitles, and has a few GUIs for it that can use this ability. Search the forums for this package in the Programing section.

Other apps that come to mind are DVD Lab, DVD Architect, ReelDVD, Ulead DVD Workshop, Sonic DVD Producer, Sonic Scenarist, Spuce Up's DVD Maestro.

I've seen some children's books done this way, with a slide show and transitions along with subtitles and someone narrating the story.
