RM to SVCD problem w/ EO

I am using a licensed EO Video v1.36 to convert RM to SVCD.

After the conversion to MPEG2 is complete, I play the output file and the picture freezes after a few minutes.

Is there a workaround/fix/remedy for this? What is the cause?

Encode the audio and the video separately and then mux. Don't know why-but it helps!!

I am unable to do a video-only or audio-only conversion. Must be missing something obvious. Output format used is: MPEG, Compression: SVCD (want a SVCD-format file...MPEG2, 480x480). Is an intermediate format required to split the audio/video into separate files? I tried AVI but still don't see it.
