Hi I was wondering if it is normal to see a video that was originally ripped using Xvid codec to have a Divx tag on playback?

If not, is there a way to get rid of the Divx codec tag?

I have both codecs installed Divx 5.1.1 and Xvid 4 Mpeg

    Thanks for your help.

You mean it has a DivX tag in the user data or there is a DivX logo on playback? The DivX tag is there if the file uses bframes with packed bitstream. The logo is there if you are using DivX to decode.

For the tag, unpack and remove it with MPEG4 modifier and for the logo, disable generic MPEG4 in the DivX decode options, although that still doesn't guarantee that XviD will be used to decode. Could also tick the don't display logo option or whatever and keep using DivX.
