  1. My question is: Can I output a video file from my hdd to a dv camera connected to my firewire port? Does it matter the edited video color system? Or will it record to the camera's system color, regardless?
    Let me think about that...

  2. Yes you can, but it needs to be a DV-Avi 1st (AFAIK).

Not sure what you mean by "color system" -- do you mean colorspace (DV25 - PAL=4:2:0 vs. NTSC=4:1:1)? You should be able to tranfer DV .avi's of the same format (PAL from HD to PAL DV camcorder, and NTSC DV to NTSC camcorder). But you cannot go from PAL DV .avi on HD to NTSC camcorder via firewire -- you have to convert the PAL DV to NTSC DV first.

Or by "color system", are you referring to IRE setup? Or something else?

  4. In Brazil, we say "color system" meaning the region image standards like PAL, NTSC or SECAM, so you got that right.

From what you say, I understand I cannot output a PAL dv file -dv avi, captured with ScenalyzerLive, for example - to a NTSC camcorder and get it right. The camcorder will not convert the image's "color system" from PAL to NTSC, right?

So the question naturally follows: what's the best way to convert the PAL avi to NTSC?
    Let me think about that...

This can't be done by simple DV-AVI copy.
Search the site for all the other threads on PAL-NTSC conversion.

This is a complex issue since both field rates and raster size are different.
