    Can ffmpe handle wav files ? For some reason I put a wav file in and it makes an ac3 file but the ac3 is empty, no size at all. One of the last lines that ffmpe gives in the results is unsupported codec. Any ideas ?

    yes, it can. are you sure it is wav? how did you create the wav??

    you can also try besweet or belight.

    Decompress the wav file to PCM, that should help.
