This is my AMD 2.2 that bought it Thanksgiving night. I think I may have had a heat issueor maybe rendering a high graphic 3D animation sequence for 19 hours straight might have played a role in it....
The battle ground, my new P4 box is there on the left of the monitor and the dead one serving as a laptop table while I'm downloading the new drivers I need. My work area is not usually that messy but we were on Thanksgiving break and I was working on it all the time.
Installing XP Pro
All is well now though, I finally got it all together and flying right last night. I even went ahead and did some video work.
I have a pic of the MoBo and things but I haven't copied them from the Camera yet.
I do know this...frontside USB 2.0 ports kickass!!!Especially since I typically use a Pen Drive.

Hello,
NOT GOOD
I don't think it's supposed to be discolored in the middle there.
KevinDonatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
It still runs?

Unfortunately, NC , that processor is toast.
The burn mark in the center is not good. -

No it doesn't run anymore. But I will say this, having always been a AMD man, I had to go P4 because that's all my friend had, having done some video with the P4 2.666, I wonder what the **** I have been doing with AMD.
Now I know several things play big roles in that, 800 mhz plays a big role, a 533 FSB plays a big role, a on chip 512 MB cache plays a big role, I don't know how much HT plays in it but still, I should have switched years ago. -

I don't think anyone ever denies Intel chips are better at video, they just cost more.
For those of us who do some video, some games, lots of surfing, and are general tightasses, AMD suits fine -
For $75 I couldn't pass it up.
P4 2.666 Ghz, Intel D865GCL MoBo, P4 Tower and ATI Radeon 9800 video card.
I had to get a different MoBo because the D845EPI that I got the first time was trash and I didn't want it after a little research on it. So the MoBo was an extra $15 -
Inside the new box. I've already listed the specs and updated my profile here at videohelp.com
As you can see I was still in the midst of installing, my HD's weren't screwed in yet. But I am using it to post this thread on videohelp.com's OT forum, so it is at least good enough to do over half of what I need a computer for -
I tell you one thing about AMD, their stock is up almost 50% in the last 6 months! And I own a bunch

I can't relive my AMD vs. Intel rant from another thread recently but I know what it's like to switch from AMD to Intel. I may soon be switching back to AMD, but not for video work.
Recommend a heatsink for Christmas. Better cooling isn't just for overclockers, it's just all-around better for your computer. Also see what happened to your previous processor? Not that something similar would happen to the self-saving P4, but it never hurts to slap a big chunk of copper on your processor.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
I see an Intel v AMD slugfest coming on
All you AMD fans, just admit it - you're cheapskates with no classRegards,

So, if I have one of each, does that make me a cheapskate with class, or a no-class elitist???
