Hi all,
I built my HTPC and would like to upgrade my CPU. I need a stronger CPU to convert mini DV tapes and dvd's to divx or mp4 at a faster speed.
I was reviewing the following:
Intel Pentium E6600 3.06GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor
Intel Pentium E6800 3.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor
Intel Core2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
My PC specs are:
Windows 7 Ultimate
Antec Fusion (Black)
Dual 2 Core 2.2 ghz
1tb SATA 7200 RPM and 500 gig 7200 RPM and 250 gigs for the OS
4 GIG ddr2 800
HP 16x DVD(+/-)R/RW DL LightScribe drive
Intel DG43GT Motherboard
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I dont know much about CPU 's. How fast would it encode 30 minute clip? When it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!!
-
It depends on the encoder and settings you use. Anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.
-
I'm sure it depends on the source (res+bitrate) and the target settings.

I'd choose CPU #4.*** Now that you have read me, do some other things. ***
