  1. Hello, having a problem that hopefully someone can help me out with.

I have a bunch of files in various formats I've been trying to burn to DVD. The first set were AVI's that I converted to VOB format with WinAVI, then joined with VOBedit, created IFO files with IFOedit, then burned with Nero - worked perfectly, no problems at all.

Then I got a bunch of OGM files and tried to do the same thing - I had to download an OGG filter for Windows Media player first, but I was able to convert the OGM files to VOB format, join with VOBedit, created IFO files with IFOedit, burned with Nero, and then - YUCK. The picture was fine, the sound was just MUD, it was unusable on my standalone DVD player. Tried playing the OGM files with Media Player - worked perfectly. Tried the DVD on my PC player - same muddy sound. So obviously the problem happened in the conversion process. Not sure if I need to change a setting in WinAVI or what. Has anyone encountered this problem before, any suggestions?

    Thanks!

(Oh PS: An ancillary problem - with the DVD's that work, I can swtich between chapters, but for some reason and I can't fast-forward or rewind without it jumping chapters, I don't have this problem with any other DVD's).

Dont EVER mix up computing power and all the available codecs/filters with hardware like DVD players..there is NO comparrison.

Everytime you mention WMP my heart sinks a little bit more into the realms of DESPAIR.........will thou poor souls never learn?

First off lets use something of a known standard eh? So lets start with VirtualDubMod. DEMUX that avi, then convert the new AUDIO file to your preffered format using your fave encoder. CHECK the audio sounds OK and MATCHES the time length of the avi.

Process the video in your preffered encoder (as an ES m2v/mpv) and then bring both video and audio into your authoring tool. Preview to check sync, author and burn.

All in one tools generally equal POOR results compared to GOOD individual progs...and are sold to people, who unfortunately ,know no better than the sales blurb.
