Inaccessible_boot_device
I knew it was going to happen sooner or later... later I hoped.
Anyway my ? is this - Why am I BSOD'ing if I've altready gotten the splash screen? Isn't the NT loader file(s) being read at this point? Or is the drive itself crapping out during the process. BIOS sees the drive ok... I hear drive spin as well. Drive is a Maxtor 160/7200/8 about a year old
I have had issues with DOS errors (NTLDR not found, etc) in the recent past but luck had been on my side but now this...
Comments?????
Thanks,
makntraks

After you burn your files off (if you can) you could either reinstall onto that hd or buy a new one. Its at least worth a try to see if you can recover your files though. -
is your boot.ini in the right place?
Did you try a repair? -
Any other error besides that? with W2kSP3 I was having some anamolies with BSOD on boot and it turned out to be corrupt hardware profiles.
(Had to boot to DOS via 2k boot floppies, run diag, (drops you to DOS) and find the files associated with hrdware profiles and swap a few around (always have at least two) -
Hey- thanks for the replies!
I've decided to wipe it all and start from scratch. I figure I'll be losing nothing but time and in the end have a fresh system.
Again thanks,

Could be a tip for those that might find themselves in the same situation
Again thanks and maybe my little experiment might work for others...In the theater of the mind...

I don't know why I didn't mention this before, but did you ever boot from your install CD and try chkdsk in the recovery console?
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
