it hangs and goes back to minute 35 and plays

problem also is when i load the vob into editing software
it only shows te first 45 seconds of the vid.....
also when i rip the audio from the dvd, its only 45 seconds.

but when i just play the dvd it's fine!?!

I had similar problems with a Pioneer standalone. Similar but not exactly the same... The problem came from the fact that the cells in the vob files where only 30s long, so when I was trying to import the vob file into nero for example, it would chop it up in small chunks. I see this is not exactly the problem you're having, but it sounds a bit similar.
What soft DVD player did you use to play your DVD on your PC? Did you first rip it to hard-drive? I would try that first to eliminate any media question.
What editing soft did you try to import the vob into?

  3. i used powerdvd and windows media player to play the dvd.
i ripped it to my harddisk.

    editing software i tried is:

    tmpgenc
    vobedit
    ulead videostudio.

so, everything works fine when i play it, but when i want to edit it it doesn't work....

OK, my VOB files didn't play well when I would try to play them with windows media player (but that's to be expected). Have you tried to play them with PowerDVD (drag/drop the vob file into powerdvd, not opening the whole DVD)? If that does not work, then something's fishy with your VOB. If it works, then the problem might come from the way the VOB is laid out (that was the problem with my pioneer DVD recorder).

I fixed it by demuxing and remuxing the VOB file. Then it would import just fine anywhere.
Check out this thread on that...

Can you do a direct COPY in ISO Mode with DVDDecrypter?
I don't suppose DVDShrink will open it right?

    So, to summarize:
    - Your DVD plays (alsmost) normally in PowerDVD.
    - Individual vob files don't play normally in PowerDVD (only 45s play)
    - Individual vob files don't load normally in edit programs.
    - When you demux the vob files, you get 45s of audio.

Something looks reallly screwed up here. What's especially puzzling is the fact that the DVD plays normally in PowerDVD.
Could you possibly post one of the vob files (if it's a small one) somewhere on the net (you could even chop off some of it), so we could take a look at it?
