  1. So I went to Blockbuster and rented the first disc in Seinfeld season 1. I get it home and open it and the disk has no label on the top(it wasn't double sided). I just think it is strange, but no big deal and I pop it in the player. I took the disk back yesterday, and a guy calls me today and says that I put the wrong disk back in the case. I go there and see what he is talking about. I proved it was the right disk by playing it in a DVD player. So I take itback and this guyshows me that all of the other copies had labes. I tell the guy thats how it came and he says that I copied it. He said that if I didn't return the disk or pay up he was going to inform the police. I then procede to take a closer look at the other disks and notice that there are some words and numbers on the inner plastic of the disk(none of which identify the DVD) and then I looked back at the one I rented and the font, words, and some of the numbers matched. I showed this to the guy and he decided that he wouldn't call the cops. The main manger then came out and apologized. He then offered me a free rental.

So I guess the question is has anyone else rented or bought a disk that was missing the label.

yea - at blockbuster also ...

and ive had one from there that was double sided but the inner ring marking could not be read and one side was WS and other was crop/chop ..

ive had another one from there that was just as you had also .. but you should have pointed out to them that it was a pressed disk (silver) , not a burned disk .

ive had several that would not play at some point also -- too scratched up on the very outer edge where it spins in the case ....

  3. Not me. I've seen some unlabeled DVD+CD flippers & some double-sided DVDs with 'ring-type' hub labels, but I can't recall seeing what you've described.

    Another reason to hate Blockbuster.

He obviously knew nothing about DVDs so I couldn't prove it to him that way. I tried to tell him to look at the bottom of the disc for the ring of unused data, but he didn't believe me that a DVD+/-R has a ring around it where the burner stopped.

  7. Had somthing like that when the first released Revolver on CD. Actualy had the wrong disk in it.

    Sounds like:

    1) Pressing plant goof up.
    2) The manager should have pulled that disk. IE sloppy clerk!

Have notist a "covering" on some DVD from Blockbuster of late.

I have a double sided DVD that I think looks like that. One side is widescreen and the other side is pan and scan. I think you might be referring to something different though.

I don't think so. It was a DVD 9, but it was only around 8 GB and there was no ring of unused data.
